Understanding The 2022 ISO 27002 Update

ISO 27001 is the key to a successful cybersecurity program. The internationally adopted framework for information security is updated (almost). The last update was 8 years ago in 2013, and the new ISO 27002:2022 was published on February 15, 2022.

With the new changes comes with a new control mapping and all domain clauses are now transitioned to “themes”. The new themes are that the controls fall under are:

  • Organizational controls (if they do not fall under any other domain)
  • Technological controls (if they concern technology)
  • People controls (if they concern individual people)
  • Physical controls (if they concern physical objects)
