GreyCastle Security Named One of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces 2020
GreyCastle Security is one of the highest-scoring businesses, with standout employee engagement
TROY, N.Y. (May 6, 2020) – GreyCastle Security, the industry’s leading provider of risk assessment, mitigation, and certification-readiness services, has been named to Inc. magazine’s annual list of the Best Workplaces for 2020. Hitting newsstands May 12 in the May/June 2020 issue, and as part of a prominent Inc.com feature, the list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits.
The strongest engagement scores came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work. These companies are leading the way in employee recognition, performance management, and diversity. It is a different playbook from a decade ago, when too many firms used the same template: free food, open work environments, and artifacts of “fun.”
The People and Culture function was created at GreyCastle Security in 2017. At that time, the company had 18 employees in Troy and Rochester, NY. By adopting an inclusive people-centric culture, GreyCastle Security grew to 50 people in five states, added eight benefits, and improved retention to a healthy 95% by the end of that year. Today, the company employs more than 74 people in 13 states across the country, maintains its 95% retention rate, added more than 14 new benefits and continues to drive and support an inclusive people-centric culture.
“What is important to highlight is that, as a company, we invest in putting our people first. Everything we do for and in support of our people falls under the umbrella of the definition of inclusion: A sense of belonging; feeling respected, valued, and seen for who we are as individuals. A level of supportive energy from leaders, colleagues, and others so that we, individually and collectively, can do our best work. By adopting an inclusive people-centric culture, we have been able to establish and operationalize our core values, and attract and retain highly skilled diverse talent. We ensure that our people have rewarding work, benefits that promote work-life integration, a strong internal community to support our people through their work and life journeys, and provide corporate social responsibility opportunities,” said GreyCastle Security’s Director People and Culture, Francesca LoPorto-Brandow. “We are a best workplace because of our knights who prioritize, believe in and take ownership of our culture, mentor and support each other, voice their ideas in the spirit of making the company better, and, as a result, deliver high-quality innovative services, and help the company to achieve year-over-year triple-digit growth. It takes a village, intentional hard work, and investment. I am proud to say GreyCastle Security is a nationally recognized best workplace.”
Collecting data from more than 3,000 submissions, Inc. singled out 395 finalists for this year’s list. Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data. Then we ranked all the employers using a composite score of survey results. This year, 73.5 percent of surveyed employees were engaged by their work.
With its fast-paced growth, GreyCastle Security stays grounded and continues to grow and be a leading provider of cybersecurity services by implementing our unique strategy to operationalize our seven core values, including: humble confidence, transparency, kindness, efficiency, safety, accountability, and integrity.
“This honorable recognition originates from the hearts and minds of everyone at GreyCastle Security. As a business, we are intentional with our emphasis of and alignment with our values and evolving high-performance culture. Yet, it’s our employees who make them come to life,” said Chief Executive Officer, Dan Kalil. “Team members don’t simply buy-in; they believe, have pride, take ownership, and strive to live the values while ensuring a culture that promotes diversity, inclusiveness, and opportunities for all. Not only is this clearly evident, but we also see a thriving existence that carries us through the good and challenging times in both life and business. The result of all this is an unmatched differentiator that sets us apart and provides a clear sense of purpose, quality, and commitment to our clients, one another, and our organization.”
The recognition follows GreyCastle Security being named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the third consecutive year.
